Anger Treatment: Advanced Workshop in Stress Inoculation Method

This advanced one-day workshop is for those who have attended my previous workshops at Cektos and are thereby grounded in understanding anger as a clinical problem, in anger assessment (especially with the NAS-PI and STAXI), and in the fundamentals of CBT for anger dysregulation. Participants should come to the workshop with an NAS and/or a PI completed for a client (identity masked), and with a case formulation for that client, designating anger treatment targets.

The workshop will enhance anger treatment skills in the areas of cognitive restructuring (provocation meaning analysis, fostering re-appraisal, and diminishing rumination), arousal reduction (practice of core breathing techniques, use of tranquil imagery, and deep-muscle relaxation procedures), and behavioral coping skills (shaping diplomacy, strategic withdrawal, and respectful assertiveness).

There will be demonstration and practice of the stress inoculation procedure, involving provocation hierarchy construction, provocation scene induction, and skills consolidation. Relapse prevention and building client resilience will also be addressed.
